Fisheries Management
TREA Fisheries Management helps lake and pond owners realize their fishery goals. By conducting thorough and accurate assessments of the existing fishery, as well as, lake or pond construction consulting, we can provide a management direction for the fishery you desire.
Typical pond and lake assessments include the use of electrofishing and seining to sample fish which are then identified, measured and weighed. These data are used to conduct statistical analyses which will numerically describe fish condition and population balance. With this information, a management plan is created which may range from additional stockings to the complete removal of the current fishery using rotenone and subsequent new stockings of fish. Future pond and lake assessments can be provided to maintain the desired fishery and to properly assess the effectiveness of past fisheries management or formulate new management directions.
Numerous species are available for stocking as well as stocking plans through our cooperators at Logan Hollow Fish Farm. Members of TREA staff are also licensed aquatic pesticide applicators and are experienced with chemical and physical treatment of nuisance aquatic vegetation. TREA can also create bathymetric (topographic) maps of your lake or pond with high precision GPS technology for those "hard core" fishermen. |
